STEENBERG HOTEL DEBUTS ON COVETED CONDÈ NAST TRAVELER USA GOLD LIST 2012
Cape Town 15 December 2011: The Steenberg Hotel in Cape Town has been singled out by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine in the USA among the ‘world’s best places to stay’, marking the first year that this iconic hotel in the Constantia Wine Valley has made it onto this ‘roll of honour’. With an impressive score of 95.7 points, Steenberg Hotel achieved a sterling 5th place among hotels and resorts in Africa & the Middle East in this year’s Condé Nast Traveler Gold List Awards.
This achievement marks a triumphant end to a landmark year of global recognition for Steenberg, with major international awards including scooping the title Best Luxury Hotel in Africa by www.TripAdvisor.com, the world’s largest travel site, in its’ 2011 Travelers’ Choice awards; and being named Top Hotel in Africa and the Middle East in the Condé Nast Traveler US Readers’ Choice Awards (2011). Earlier in the year Steenberg was also rated one of Cape Town’s top gourmet destinations when both its fine dining restaurant, Catharina’s, and the more informal Bistro Sixteen82, were awarded the coveted American Express Platinum Card Fine Dining Award for 2011.
Condé Nast Traveler Magazine is the foremost authority in unbiased travel and destination reporting, and is globally renowned as one of the world’s leading travel magazines. The Condé Nast Traveler USA Gold List contenders are voted in afresh every year, by way of a Readers’ Choice Survey, and are the collective result of some eight million votes cast by a discerning group of seasoned global travellers. Hotels, resorts, and cruise lines are voted onto this list according to a scoring system, whereby each score represents the percentage of respondents who rated a property excellent or very good on specific criteria. These criteria are: Rooms, Service, Food, Location, Design and Activities. This ensures that avid travellers visiting the Condé Nast Traveler website are assured that their choice of destination is indeed ‘the best of the best’.
